Castile Handmade Soaps
Castile Handmade Soaps
My Castile soaps are made using 100% Olive Oil. There are no additional oils in these recipes, making them true Castile soaps. However, I make a variety of Castile soaps by infusing the olive oil with herbs known for their skin benefits. I have five different Castile soaps in my collection: traditional (white), rosehip (off white, pink), rosemary (light green), sage (green), and calendula (off white, yellow). These soaps were designed for those with very sensitive skin. You may notice that each soap in their given category has a distinct color; this is because when olive oil is infused with the herb or flower, the olive oil is tinted with that specific herbs or flowers natural color. You will also notice that the soap has a slight scent of the herb or flower used when infusing the olive oil. All Castile soaps are vegan, cruelty free, contain no palm oil, no phthalate or paraben.
Why is Castile soap special? Castile soap originated in the Castile region of Spain many centuries ago. Castile soap is known to be hypoallergenic and to be very gentle on the skin. People with skin irritations, sensitivities, acne, rashes, dry skin, or suffering from skin conditions, will find that Castile soap is very gentle on their skin while also cleansing the skin surface. This soap can also be used on babies and children, however avoid eyes and mouth. Do not allow a small child to place the soap in their mouth.
I make these soaps using the cold process method and I let them cure for at least six months to one year. Due to Castile soap being 100% Olive Oil, it is important to know that these soaps should be placed in a soap dish. Do not leave Castile soap in water because Castile soap can become soggy (oily) and wither away very fast. After use, leave your soap in a cool and dry place. For best practice, use a washcloth to get more lather out of the bar. The more you care for your soap, the longer it will last.
